    Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Seasonal Affective Disorder is more than just “the winter blues”. It is our brains going into hibernation mode. The lack of sunlight can trigger our brain to desire eating foods high in fat and calories, sleeping more as well as being in a depressed or irritable mood.
Many might tell you to buy one of those expensive “sun therapy lamps”. However I suggest changing your light bulbs.
    *Full Spectrum Lights*
Full spectrum light bulbs have both UV and IR light waves and most closely emit light similar to sunlight. Full spectrum is not to be confused with broad spectrum, which has only UV and not IR waves.

I have had full spectrum lights in my home since the ’90’s. Just 2o minutes a day under the lights makes a noticeable improvement! And you can do anything you like under the lights; reading, sewing, playing with the kids, pretty much anything that doesn’t involve a screen.
